Forschungsprojekt: Diabetische Katzen mit Hypertonie
Liebe KollegInnen,
Wir (VBPS, veterinary blood pressure society) möchten Sie zur Beihilfe an einem sehr interessanten Forschungsprojekt einladen: Eine Feldstudie an diabetischen Katzen („Neu-Einsteiger“) soll
aufzeigen, wieviele solcher Katzen gleichzeitig an DM und Hypertonie leiden, und wieviele „nur“ an DM. In der Fachliteratur finden sich diesbezüglich widersprüchliche Feststellungen. Bei allen
Katzen wird neben den üblichen Laborwerten zur Aufarbeitung eines DM auch Fructosamin gemessen werden, sowie der Blutdruck mittels einem HDO-Gerät bestimmt werden, welches auch die Bestimmung der
Pulswellengeschwindigkeit (PWA) zulässt. Letztere ist für die Studie insofern wichtig, weil daraus Hinweise auf beginnende Vaskulopathie mit Veränderungen der Eigenschaften der Gefässwand
abgeleitet werden können, die die PWA verändern.

We proudly announce the first HDO PWA Award winner:
Hannah Piel/Tiho Hannover, Germany
For the first time in it’s existence, the HDO-PWA-Award was presented at the recent ECVIM-congress in Malta. This prestigious honor, combined with a cheque of 5’000 Euros, was bestowed upon med.vet. H.Piel from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (Foundation) for her study : Agreement of high definition oscillometry (HDO), conventional oscillometry (petMAP) and Doppler Ultrasound Flow Monitor (DOP) with direct arterial blood pressure measurement (ABP) at different pressure and systemic vascular resistance index (SVRI) ranges in awake and anesthetized Beagle dogs. In a brief presentation, Ms. Piel shared the findings of her doctoral thesis work with the interested audience.
